The infamous hard rock band from Birmingham, England is one of the biggest and most influential bands of the genre. Everyone knows their name and especially the name of the group's long-time singer: Ozzy Osbourne. In 1982 they released their first live album and that has now been re-released with brand new recordings for its 40th anniversary!

When you think of Black Sabbath, you usually think of Ozzy Osbourne at the same time. But the live record titled Live Evil was actually released during a phase of the band when Ozzy was not a member. In 1981, Mob Rules, the band's tenth studio album, was released with a no less famous musician on vocals. Ronnie James Dio was at the microphone at that time. He is considered one of the most important musicians in rock music and also played in the bands Rainbow and Dio, among others. In 2010 he died at the age of 68.

In 1981, with the release of the new album, Black Sabbath went on the Mob Rules Tour, where the recordings for their first official live album were made. The shows in Seattle, San Antonio and Dallas (USA) were recorded.

Live Evil Remastered: Deluxe 40th Anniversary Edition

The tour in the early 80s was dominated by Black Sabbath songs like "Heaven And Hell", written by Dio, and of course classics like "Paranoid" and "Iron Man", which had been created with Ozzy Osbourne on vocals. An album with a great potential for a re-release.

To mark the 40th anniversary of Live Evil, the album has been re-released as a Super Deluxe 40th Anniversary Edition. It includes four vinyls (or CDs) with two different album versions. On the one hand there is the remastered version by Andy Pearce, on the other hand a remix version by Wyn Davis. Especially the first one stays true to the original sound of the band and additionally contributes to a balanced sound. Particularly the remix is therefore interesting for fans, because the recording included work with analog tapes and there are noticeable differences to the original record.

Here's a song from the 1982 record for you right away to give you the right vibe:
