The Band
Silverstein comes from Burlington in Canada, was founded exactly in the year 2000, and has been traveling the world with their
post-hardcore music ever since. Influences from
screamo, hardcore punk, and
indie rock can also be found in their music. They first performed at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in 2008 and soon accompanied big groups like
Billy Talent in Europe. On their musical journey, they have already released numerous albums, plus EPs and compilations. The debut album
When Broken Is Easily Fixed was released in 2003 and immediately became one of their most popular releases to this day. Nostalgic and emotional songs like "Smile In Your Sleep" and "My Heroine" are classics and total fan favorites that never get old to listen to.
Dead Reflection from 2017 should also be mentioned. The most popular song from the album is undoubtedly "The Afterglow"! But the album
A Beautiful Place to Drown from 2020 has also played its way into the hearts of the community. "Infinite" and "Bad Habits" are strong examples of tracks from this album; lively and perfect for dancing, celebrating, and headbanging!
What Do Silverstein Write About?
With their lyrics, Silverstein have always taken us on an emotional journey. They address topics such as love, loss, and personal growth in their music and constantly inspire their fans anew. This is especially evident on the album
Misery Made Me, as it was released in 2022 and was thus written during the Corona pandemic. According to guitarist Paul Marc Rousseau, the song "Ultraviolet" is meant to illustrate how something invisible seemingly controls us. "Cold Blood" was an outlet for the musician to process the way news is reported on social media. The strongest emotions are probably addressed in the track "It's Over": feelings of fear, panic, and an seemingly endless downward spiral. However, the eleventh song, "Misery," deals with the themes of optimism, reality, and acceptance and offers a hopeful conclusion to the album. An album about an incredibly difficult time that everyone can probably relate to.
