The very diverse musical formula of Panic! At The Disco includes core elements of pop, rock, indie, and disco sound. The result sometimes leans more towards
Fall Out Boy or
My Chemical Romance. Other songs remind listeners of pop acts like Katy Perry. Critics have even drawn parallels to the
Beatles. While strings and accordion provide

electro beats are often used to give the songs a modern touch. Overall, Panic! At The Disco always sounds unique and authentic. Originally founded as a
Blink-182 cover band, the group soon pursued their own plans and released a first demo with original songs. These were spread on the internet, catching the attention of media and several record labels.
Fueled By Ramen – a sub-label of Atlantic Records – won the bid. The first single "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" was a massive hit. With heavy radio and MTV airplay, the song became one of the hits of 2006. The subsequent debut album A FEVER YOU CAN'T SWEAT OUT sold
over 3.5 million copies worldwide. On the follow-up PRETTY. ODD., released two years later, the band made a significant stylistic shift towards folk-pop. The band received a lot of praise from critics for their courage and creative songwriting. Fans, however, had mixed feelings about the album. Internally, the band couldn't agree on the future direction, leading to numerous lineup changes. Brendon Urie remained the only constant member of Panic! At The Disco over the years, turning the band more and more into a
solo project with rotating session musicians. The third album VICES & VIRTUES was released in 2011, returning more to pop-punk but with rich electro vibes. The follow-ups TOO WEIRD TO LIVE, TOO RARE TO DIE (2013) and DEATH OF A BACHELOR (2015) continued the electronica path. If

Panic! At The Disco's sixth studio album A PRAY FOR THE WICKED (2018) features a massive Broadway and theater ambiance. The very successful main single "High Hopes" symbolizes the
homogeneous mix of modern and retro and became one of the most popular radio hits of the year.
A final album, VIVA LAS VENGEANCE, was released in 2022, shortly after which Brendon Urie announced that the band would disband in 2023.
