Anyone who has watched the Netflix documentary about the first, failed Fyre Festival, "The Greatest Party That Never Happened", knows that a revival of this infamous event is a huge surprise. But it’s really happening: Fyre Festival 2 is planned for 2025 in Mexico.
The Scandalous Festival History
Back in 2017, the luxury festival was promoted as a party event for influencers and celebrities, set on the Bahamas, featuring top-tier bands like Blink-182 and marketed by models like Kendall Jenner. The promo went viral, but the festival was a complete disaster. It was canceled early, accommodations turned out to be emergency tents instead of luxury villas, and catering was reduced to cheap sandwiches.
This massive scam led to legal consequences, and the festival’s organizer, Billy McFarland, was even sentenced to prison.
Second Attempt: “The Fyre Festival 2 is Real”
Billy McFarland has made a big announcement about Fyre Festival 2 on his X account. There’s already an official website, and ticket sales are live. The festival’s Instagram account has also been reactivated, featuring the following message:
"I'm sure many people think I'm crazy for doing this again. But I feel I'd be crazy not to do it again. After years of reflection and now thoughtful planning, the new team and I have amazing plans for FYRE 2. The adventure seekers who trust the vision and take the leap will help make history. Thank you to my partners for the second chance."
If you’ve got the money, you can secure tickets now starting at $1,400, with the most expensive packages exceeding $1 million. The event will take place from May 30 to June 2, 2025, on Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
This time, supposedly, with actual luxury accommodations and program - we’ll see how it turns out.
