Several popular manga titles have made it onto the New York Times Bestseller List this month, including Jujutsu Kaisen and SPY x Family! Here's the exact ranking.
Every month, the New York Times publishes bestseller lists in various categories, including a list for Graphic Books and Manga, which the NYT has been including since October 2019. This list ranks the top fifteen best-selling mangas and comics of the respective month. Whether you regularly read manga or prefer to watch anime, you'll likely recognize some of these titles!
Manga Bestsellers in May:
It's no surprise that Jujutsu Kaisen ranks highly. The series recently made it into the Guinness World Records as the most in-demand anime series of the year, even surpassing Attack on Titan and One Piece. Volume 22 of Gege Akutami's manga series landed at #2 on the bestseller list! It's almost a pity it didn't make it to #1, but that spot is taken by "The Scarlet Shedder," Part 12 of Dav Pilkey's Dog Man comic series. Meanwhile, Berserk Deluxe, Vol. 1, by Kentaro Miura, is at #8. Following closely behind is Volume 11 of SPY x Family at #13.
Back in April, several fan favorites were also featured in the rankings. SPY X Family was previously at #7, while Volume 37 of My Hero Academia was at #8 and Volume 105 of One Piece at #11!
