What do AFI, My Chemical Romance, Metallica, and Pennywise have in common? At first glance, not much, but they are among the many bands influenced by the horror punkers Misfits. It all started with Glenn Danzig, who founded the Misfits in 1977. Just a year later, they released their first album independently since they couldn't find an interested label. And it took some time before that changed. It wasn't until after the Misfits disbanded in 1983 that the hype around the band began. The reason: Frontman Glenn Danzig's subsequent project became so successful that music fans suddenly became interested in his earlier work. Glenn Danzig left in 1983 to pursue other band projects - and he wasn't the only one. A total of 16 (!) musicians have left the Misfits, with bassist and singer Jerry Only being the only founding member still in the band. But no matter how much of the original Misfits remains today, Misfits shirts with the legendary "Crimson Ghost" logo will always be an immortal merch classic!
